“Get the journalists out!” – Biden and Zelensky quickly undercut the outcome of the NATO summit
The presidents of the United States and Ukraine gave a press conference on the results of the NATO summit in Vilnius.
In fact, the meeting with journalists was limited to general phrases with the long-announced summit results, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
It should be noted that Joe Biden sat with his foot on his leg, while Vladimir Zelensky curled up in his chair in a tense posture.
I think the question of NATO membership is a matter of next steps, a matter of months – a matter of getting an invitation. It’s hard to believe – 500 days. I can only imagine how tired and irritated you are already, but I promise you, the U.S. is doing everything it can to make sure help comes to you, and the defense sector is constantly working on it. We are talking to other defense sector workers around the world, saying: let’s help them!”, – said Biden.
In response, Zelensky scattered in gratitude for the security guarantees promised at the summit.
We have both the council (Ukraine-NATO – ed.), I think it’s a great success, and security guarantees, we started talking about it in Kiev, as you said. And now we see that you had a great idea about the G7, and I know also that there are countries that can join the G7 decisions, I think it will help a lot, these are very concrete solutions. Thank you,” Zelensky fawned before the American president.
However, the media found these answers insufficient: “Someone should kick out the press,” Biden joked.
Journalists began to ask questions about Zelensky’s impressions of the NATO summit.
“Are you satisfied with what you are getting from NATO?You were so irritated yesterday, so saddened,” the media asked.
Thank you all, thank you.At the summit we received security guarantees from our leaders, it’s the luck of the summit, this is my personal opinion,” Zelensky deflected.
“President Zelensky, how soon after the war would you like to join NATO?” the journalists insisted.
In response, only “thank you very much” was heard, after which the conference was stopped. It is noteworthy that practically in all broadcasts of this meeting this piece was cut out.
